Holemans Residence

This Arlington Forest project is a sustainable design participant in the "Arlington Green Home Choice Program". The property fronts directly on Lubber Run Park. The original 1950's house was preserved. An existing sunken detached garage was removed to restore park side grade and views. The new contemporary addition is placed squarely behind the original house. Existing brick walls and trim were painted neutral shades of green and gray to blend with the parkland. The addition is a simple rectilinear form with an upward shedding roof. The new rear "open plan" living space is transformed by the surrounding woodland. Insulated glass curtain walls, lofted ceilings and a cantilevered deck are in direct response to the park amenity and the owner's desire for a contemporary design solution.
